Your station has lost me and my family as viewers on Thursday evening. We were so offended by your new situation comedy show “Hold the Plow” that we will avoid your station from now on. Since the program was about rural life and we come from that background, we eagerly tuned in the show. But it was a complete failure! The program portrayed farmers and rural life in a silly way without ever letting viewers know the true life in the country. Other viewers who know rural life will undoubtedly share my opinion.

Everyone waits for sales. Good shoppers look for sales because at a sale, prices are low. They can save money at a sale. Shoppers always buy more and spend more during a sale. That is the opinion of most store managers at the mall. They claim that the only times shoppers really spend money are when they think they are saving money. Because of this, the store managers plan different kinds of sales for their stores every chance they get.

One Saturday morning last summer, my alaclock failed to go off. I was wildly pulling on jeans, flying out the door, and leaping onto my bike. I had only fifteen minutes to get to Dr. Johnson’s house. He had hired me to mow his vast lawn, and he had warned me that he did not tolerate lateness or excuses. He was a tyrant, so I feared him. He paid top dollar, however, so I tried to act obediently. As I pedaled up Elm Street, I said to myself, “I have a feeling that this day will not go well.”

Susie remembers the day when she was on the stage as a professional singer for the first time. It was long after she had been discovered at a singing contest. Despite her late debut, Susie is now popular among many Asians. Thanks to the success of her debut album, My love, released two years ago, and recent television roles in Japan, she no longer feels unsure of her abilities. She says, “I would give myself only 20 points for singing when I first started out. Now, after practicing in the recording studio every day, I give myself 90 points.”

The room was not dark when I opened my eyes. A bright light was shining into it, but I could not see where the light came from. The room was square, and its walls were covered with terrible paintings of devils. The colors of these pictures had faded, but the drawings were still clear. There was a round pit in the middle of the floor. I saw all this in a few seconds, although I could hardly move. But a moment later, I heard a strange noise from the pit.

There are some music-sharing Websites such as Napster on the Internet. So, millions of surfers can upload and download MP3 files for free. Some say there is nothing wrong with this. Others strongly criticize the music-sharing Websites. In my opinion, artists have a right to say they don’t want their music to be uploaded to the free music community. We have to remember that artists make a living from their music. So we need laws that stop the online operators from providing that service without the artists’ permission.

When I thought about Pete Rose’s philosophy and how it applied to everyday life, I felt a little ashamed. I was an adequate salesperson. I was not so bad as a father. I immediately decided that being okay was not enough! I wanted to be a great salesperson, a great father. I changed my attitude into one of positive expectation, and the results were amazing. I got a big bonus for my sales. I also won Coach of the Year in my son’s baseball league.
